The upgrade of software to add new options as well as the update to a new version for injection molding machines is a complicated process that can take from multiple weeks to even months. To shorten this time, process automation via automated workflows is investigated. This workflow can be modeled in different modeling languages and automated with diverse workflow automation systems. In this paper the two modeling languages Windows Workflow Foundation and BPMN as well as the workflow management systems Camunda, Bizagi and SharePoint are compared. Subsequently, the ideal modeling language and workflow management system are chosen for the task, to automate the ordering and configuration process of software for injection molding machines. Lastly, the modeling of the workflow in the chosen modeling language is shown, starting from the current process model to the final model.
